Hello.
Firstly, excuse me for writing in English. I have struggled with translating everything to get this far so please forgive me! This appears to be the only place on the Internet which deals with the problem I have. I found one discussion regarding the exact problem I have

(ie the display on my radio tuner does not work).
But this appears to be a closed topic. All I would like to know is that if this was resolved, what finally was the resolution. As far as I understand the IC was "probably" ok and the person was looking for a faulty capacitor.
The people involved were "jolle" and "ASZ".

Please, was there a final answer to this problem (ie was it the capacitors or the IC, and if it was the capacitors, which ones were replaced)? I really would be grateful!

Hello Paul,
As far as i've run through the discussion there has been
no final solution found or answer as well.
Though a solution to the main problem should be found
in the power supply network of the tuner. That was certainly
the essence of that discussion.

Well, some sets tv, radio, etc,.. have a controller chip like a TOP223G
or similar depending on their power consumption. For instance
i had an sattelite receiver with absolutely
no display working after plugging in.
This controller was mechanically broken and as a surprise
it was extremely hidden for it has been fixed by the
manufacturer on the
bottom side of the main board and this small beast was the
only integrated circuit there. The devil was with the designers

Hi Varaktor,
Thank you so much for your very quick answer. I am not an expert on these things and was really looking for clues to help the technician to solve the problem.
I have already passed on what I understood about the capacitors in the main power line and was just seeing if there was any more information on this problem.

I will let the technician work on it and if it is fixed I'll post the details here to help anyone else.

Try changing C161 and C162. If that doesn't help you may need a schematic to check the proper voltages on the VFD.

Well, it has been fixed!! Thanks for your help - I'm listening to the radio now
The technician wrote this:
"I have replaced the two components suggested (C161 and C162) along with 3 other capacitors in the main power supply line".

I'm afraid I don't have the numbers of these components, but hopefully this information will help others with this problem.

He charged 1 hours labour, the whole thing cost 37Euros.
