What is "s.Th" and those quantities and prices? Ariel or Persil Waschmittel?

s.th. is "something". If you need parts, you dont get in USA but they're here still available, I can send them to you. New of course.

I see the retaining ring's screw is perpendicular to the front of the machine. Do I need to buy a 90 degree ratchet wrench or 90 degree nut driver (Steckschluessel auf deutsch?) to get at it? I have a very short slotted screwdriver (6-8 cm.) but nothing that is 90 degrees.

The ring's Screw may be turned by slottet long screwdriver, but it has a Nut Head 8, I have 4 of these

in my Pocket when I visit customers, in 6, 7, 8, 10 they're very usable and common. 6 & 7 I need for Hose clamps, 8 & 10 for Head Nuts outside the machine front blades to remove.

OK, I see. I have something similar, only the sockets are exchangeable. I should be ok I think. I was worried I needed something really short or angled. Good to go then. Schoenes Wochenende, Meister!

We have had almost no snow here so far. On Christmas just enough to call it "white" but only technically so.

Just now I tackled this project. My nut driver was not long enough, but I had the right length screwdriver. As you said, work carefully and be sure the Spannring fits all around. I ran a short test with rinse cycle and the rear area of the Dichtung seems to not leak.

BUT - The sealing at the door was another matter. I fit the dictung around the door as with the old one and I got a leak. I open3ed the door and it had pusuhed the dictung inward and so losing its seal.

I think Miele changed the profile so that the fit on the door is different or tehy send me the wrong part, which I sort of doubt.

In any case I fit the dichtung to the door using the second "Rille". The door closed with more force needed but it did close and there is no leaking now. I iamgaien the door will close more easily once the dictung wears in a bit. Here are some photos attached.

Tomorrow i will run a long main wash as final test. Until then halte ich den Daumen.

We will finally get maybe 5-8 cm of snow tonight or tomorrow. What we will also get is cold -13C tomorrow and Wednesday night.

Glad the seal is the correct one. I left the door closed overnight and now it is easier to close. This part compared to the old one has more "Fleisch" where the door closes, which is smart. When I look at the several part numbers, it appears Miele made several upgrades over the 30 years. You are also right that it pays to buy the original part for this item, so it fits easily and well. Now I just need to clean out my pockets before washing so no bolts, screws or nails!!!

If you want me to print out some pages of Miele pricing here, happy to do so.

By the way, under the machine sitting on the pan under the motor connections was this plastic item. Do you know what it is? I cannot see how it fits back on though it has two clips on it, so it must clip on somewhere!

The plastic pan isn't really necessary, throw in plastic rubbish.

There is often a difference between old and new seals in the feeling how to lock the door.

OK, that part did look kind of "goofy"

I do not need pricing, but thought you might. I am at your service if you wish to know the US pricing of anything.

These machines really are worth repairing if they have not been abused. So far I have Dryer repairs/replacements as follows: drive belt, humidity sensor, 2 roller bearings. Washer; Pump motor with new wiring from 120 to 220V, 2 shock absorbers and now a door seal. This is not a lot for almost 30 years of service. The total $ for all this not so much, especially calculated on a per year basis.

We have two machines that work great, thanks in good part to you and your kind help and so also there are two fewer machines at the landfill (Elektrogeraet Friedhof).
